Eurecat’s Metallic and Ceramic Materials Unit develops advanced lightweight materials and functional surfaces able to withstand demanding conditions. In collaboration with EPSEM‑UPC, the unit seeks a PhD fellow to study next‑generation aluminium alloys for sustainable electric vehicles. Although aluminium is recyclable, impurities from repeated cycles degrade its properties. The project aims to design alloys more tolerant to impurities. The researcher will assess how such elements affect fluidity, surface tension and processability, combining laboratory work, advanced characterization and pilot‑plant trials.
Responsibilities include metallography, sample preparation, heat treatments, mechanical testing, data analysis, reporting and contributing to scientific publications.
